Haiyan (Yolanda) The Super Typhoon

The news we are hearing is that the eye of the typhoon is centered over the area just recently hit by the earthquake - 150 miles south of Manila. We are expected to only receive heavy rain from this storm. This could cause flooding in some of the lower areas within the mission, but we will keep you posted. I am watching our news reports and the typhoon has already hit land.

The rain has just started to come down here, but no wind. We have asked all missionaries to remain in their apartments. We had a meeting yesterday with all zone leaders and talked through emergency plans.
Cavite Mission is in the green/yellow area to the north/west of the eye.

Projected rainfall - Cavite Mission is in the pale green area.

Updates
3:10pm - this is a picture outside the mission home. I know there are reports of widespread damage - but in Cavite we are still great. Little rain and little to no wind. I do not want parents to worry so I wanted you to see outside. Also remember that Cavite mission is the size of SL Co., so out our window will be pretty close to what is going on through out the mission.
An example of how wonderful our missionaries are - we have been getting texts from some who want to get out of their apartments and do the work because it looks so nice outside. We are keeping them in because rain and wind is expected later. These valiant kids belong to you!
Keep checking back and I will try and keep this current.
 ---------------------------
8:30pm the wind and rain have started moving in. Electricity is out in some areas, but all zones have checked in and everyone is safe.
--------------------------
10:45pm - Good news. The Cavite Mission area has been given a storm warning level of #1 which equals out to winds up to 30-60 km/h. (19-37 mph) The storm will exit the Philippine area at 10:00am tomorrow morning. (Saturday)
Right now as I head to bed, the mission home's electricity is out and I can hear the wind blowing outside, but no rain. Thank you for all the prayers. Keep them coming until this super typhoon dies out. Love to you all!
------------------------
9:30am - All missionaries in our mission are doing great and everyone has electricity. The sun is trying to peek out of the clouds. Thank you for all the prayers! But, I am changing my comment from above -

Please do not stop praying for the Filipino people, even as this is coming to an end. There are so many who are without homes, loved ones, and any kind of communication from the outside world.
This Typhoon, with all of its wrath and destruction can not match the power of HEALING, STRENGTH, and PEACE
given us by a loving Heavenly Father,
and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
