It is still cloudy, but every once in awhile I can see the blue sky peeking through the passing clouds so I know it is still there. This is also the best way I know to describe the love and watchful care of our Heavenly Father. This latest storm and powerful typhoon that has just passed over the Philippines has brought an added physical burden and heavy load of grief and despair to an area that was just barely recovering from an earthquake just weeks earlier. Clouds of discouragement can easily dim the view of a loving Father and Son, who are aware of us and stand beside us at all times and in all situations. When the clouds part and we can see the blue sky, we realize that the Father and His Son were with us the whole time, giving strength, support, and protection.
As I sit at the computer I can hear the tap tapping of hammers as neighbors fix fences and roofs damaged in the typhoon. The Filipino people are very resilient and I like to think of them as Bouncers! They get up, wipe themselves off, go outside to make an assessment of any damage, and start working to fix what needs to be repaired in their home or community. I love them for their ability to "Bounce Back." They don't have the luxury of sitting down and waiting for government to take care of them and their belongings. There are just too many of them for that to happen, and because of this they are strong willed and self reliant. So I ask you to keep praying for these sweet wonderful people who have great strength, but are at a point where they need to find more. Pray that they will notice the blue sky peeking out at them through their trials. Pray that they will find the peace that comes with knowing that God loves them and that He is watching over them and is aware of all their needs.
"Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ." (1Cor 1:3)
