Saying Good-Bye

We started out the month of June by saying good-bye to four of our missionaries. After 18 months - 2 years of full time missionary service, they are heading home.

After a session at the Manila Temple, we went to dinner at Chili's. Next it was off to the Mission Home for the night's activities.

New Updates On Mail

Most of you will be sending emails or using the "Pouch" to write to your missionary.

Packages:
It is currently taking about 2 weeks for us to receive a box from out of the country. All packages sent through the postal system are charged P112. (peso's) delivery charge. Although Private carriers such as FedEx, DHL and others will deliver slightly faster and not add on a delivery charge, they will be more expensive to send.

Custom fees and import taxes can be charged on packages sent either by regular post or Private Carriers. (Private Carriers are more apt to be charged the custom fees and import taxes than a regular postal delivery.) The regulations are pretty complex - we haven't been able to find out why some parcels are charged while others are not. Unfortunately these charges can be expensive. Most have been between 2,000 and 3,000 pesos. ($45-$65)

All fees for receiving a package are deducted from the missionary's support.
